With a chilly wind and hard hats on, Town Council broke ground on the new Town Hall.
update:Local Democrat Leader Jim MacLane posted this info about the award, and a numbers breakdown showing the project is already over the $5.9 million promised budget:
Bid awarded to Dolan Mecahnical for $5,450,000. Award includes Alt #1 Brick Veneer on all 4 sides of building instead of just front, Alt #4 Acoustical ceiling tiles in building, Alt #5 Tiles and carpets on floors instead of colored concrete, Alt #7 Stained glass windows for courtroom, and Alt #8 Millwork upgrades on counters and service windows for tax and clerk’s offices. Notice to proceed is still to be issued.
The project is already over budget. As of 12/27 the Town has spent $533,403.33 on the project. With this bid the total is $5,983,403.33. That does not include sitework, parking lot, curb, sidewalk, drainage, hookup to sewer and water, landscaping, demolition of old town hall, furniture, electronics(computers, etc.), and the community center.
