While Hammonton’s Kessler Hospital was overlooked for any help from the state or federal stimulus, Jitney drivers in Atlantic City will get new busses.
Two million would have allowed Kessler to pay its employees, and help strucutre a deal that would have left the acute care facility open and bring in a buyer who could make the hospital a for-profit venture, adding capital to the town and state.
We guess its a little more important that gamblers can get from Tropicana to Showboat in style than it is to support a medical facility that saved countless lives of patrons traveling to and from Atlantic City.
Exit question: Wth just over 17 billion dollars in stimulus money earmarked for New Jersey, and Obama’s stance on the imporance of medical care, just how little does our Governor and Trenton care about South Jersey’s community medical centers?
Exit Question 2: How many millions of dollars of unpaid services has Kessler performed for uninsured residents and visitors to New Jersey? Could it be more than $2.25 million?
