Game wrap here.
It was an awesome game, even though we came up short. We gave them the biggest fight they had all year. Gotta hand it to our boys, once again we proved that pound for pound, Hammonton produces the strongest kids for their size. We are always smaller in size, on average, but, we still do the job. Been like that since the 60’s. EHT was the bigger team. The one play that stays in my mind was EHT’s touchdown pass in the corner of the end zone. We had 2 defenders on the receiver and he still came down with the ball. Gotta wonder what would be if they didn’t score that play. The boys have nothing to be ashamed of. Good luck in Group 3 and BEAT ST.JOE!! (this will be a better game than some people think).

By the way, does anyone realize we have another potential championship coming to Hammonton? The Varsity Hawks are undefeated and 2 games away from the ACJFL Championship. This team is absolutely awesome, completely dominating their foes from kickoff to final whistle. This same team won the championship in their JV year. This team is going to be a lot of fun watching through out their High School years. I see another dominating high school team in 3-4 years. Just giving props where they are due. GO HAWKS!

Maybe now they can hit the books because their GPA’s are not too impressive.

There’s always some knocking down our kids. Great job to these fine athletes. I can’t wait to see the St.Joe-Hammonton Game. Great family fun.

To “teacher” above…. From what I’ve heard from students themselves, a good percentage of the teachers seem to be just collecting a paycheck. I’ve had students tell me that some teachers just sit back, kick their feet up and text on their phones. Some just go over homework, etc. Nothing like way back when I went to school. Not surprising the GPA’s are down.

Hammonton just can’t win the big games anymore. Since moving to group 3, we have had some great teams and have come up short against faster bigger teams. I think we should move back down to group 2 and kick ass………… Secondly, the hawks are just a feeder program. The real action is on Friday nights.

Without this “feeder” program, there wouldn’t be much to look at on Friday nights.

Exactly my thoughts Independent. 75% of the teachers in our school district are not teachers. I’ve used those same words myself “paycheck collectors” to describe them. I give a crap what my kid is doing in school and when I see a grade fall I want my question answers as to why and what I can do as the parent. They don’t care and only return your calls and emails when you force their hand by calling principals, guidance counselors and board members.

Half the board members didn’t even go to college. Now all the sudden they are concerned about our schools? You should have to have at least a college degree to run for school board.

Yes the teachers and the school district. I can say this with 100% confidence because I am a parent that stays on my kids about their grades and 75% of the teachers suck.

It is hard to teach when 90% of the kids in class are related to the teachers, office workers and school board members. They are the most disruptive, ill-mannered kids I have ever seen. I feel bad for the kids who really want to learn but cannot because of constant disruptions from their peers in the classroom who have no problem getting up, walking around the classroom or just sit in their seats having loud conversations with those around them. Very hard to teach, equally hard to learn.

Someone should set up a Hammonton School Board, school teacher family tree. You’ll see that maybe 10-15% won’t be related to anyone.

If your a teacher,( which you are not) and you have time to blog during the school day its real clear your not doing your job in the classroom. Maybe the school should look into your blogging on school time, which is paid for by the taxpayers. If you think school board members should have college degrees what about the person you just elected to be Mayor. It should go for that also? I think it should go for all elected officals then most of you current Mayor and Council could all hit the road. We should also do a family tree on all the money spent down town and just who the property owners were and how they came out ahead.

I called around and have found out that 7 of 9 of the current school board members have a 4 year college degree. I think you should do a better job with your homework before you write such trash next time. Oh, and by the way college education doesn’t make you a better or worse member. Some of the smartest people to ever serve our town had no college education at all.

Yes, I can agree with teacher this time as for the who knows who at school. That can and is a problem, not only in school but in town politics. Sounds like they are grooming all future HFer’s. There is also a rampant drug problem there that seems to go un-noticed. That came right from 9 students who were at my house visiting my daughter. Too many “rights”.
By the way, the next Hawks game is this Saturday at 7:00pm. They play Buena. If you never saw this particular squad play, come to the lake and watch, you will be amazed at their dominance over their opponents. (watch, I just jinxed them).

If people want to stop nepotism in Hammonton, for most Hammontonians that means that you’ll have to vote for hire someone other than a family member. I feel that many good teachers leave because of the problems of nepotism in the district.

to Hammonton 1……… spoken like a true non college grad. If you don’t understand the value of higher education, then you shouldn’t even post on this topic. It just makes you look even more desperate to make us believe that it is OK to not go to college…….Name three great board members and there accomplishments, that didn’t go to college?

To Hammonton 1, there are 11 board members not 9………. again….. that’s why we need college grads on the board. Maybe they can count!

Maybe you should learn to count, there are 9 hammonton School Board members. The other two are representatives for the sending districts, and the hammonton voters have nothing to do with them. And as stated above 7 of the 9 have a 4 year college degree. As far as great board members look at Warren Sooy, Larry DeMarco and Rodney Cramer, or the 100s’ of others who served our schools for free . They at least gave their time for the betterment of the students, and maybe they couldn’t afford an education or weren’t offered that opportunity.Oh and by the way your U.S. Congress and Senate has a very high percentage of college graduates infact most lawyers, which means they have a dr. degrees and just look at the shape this country is in.

The above comments are totally off the wall. In looking at past board minutes and a watcher of it on TV, what teachers have left? There haven’t even been any that have retired. So once again the facts mean nothing to those of you whom post on here. It appears as if you don’t ever let the facts stand in your way tipical Hammonton, small minded and twisted.

Are U nuts? Teachers don’t have to retire to leave. They can just leave and work elsewhere. Nobody cares though because another person takes their spot. People are leaving though for reasons of nepotism.

Ross Restuccio, Bob Capoferri, George Mortellite, Joe Umosella, Billy Doyle, No college net worth combined, about $300,000,000. Number of employees with degrees? MANY! Number of loans given to unemployed college grads? Too much to list. Go to college, or take the $150,000 that you would spend and invest it for 30 years, get a part-time job and retire a multi-millionaire. Or take the money and start a business, and in 4 years when you are getting out of college hoping to get a job making $40,000 and owing $100,000 in loans, you can have an established business making 3 times as much, and owing ZERO! But what do I know, I haven’t worked in the last ten years. College is great for doctors, lawyers, and teachers.

Yeah, but not everybody has a rich daddy that can hand them a busines or a recipie for asphalt. The rest of us have to make on our own. College may not be for everyone, but it would be nice if those who are in the position to lead us actually worked themselves for all that they have and would bother to educate themselves about the world beyond Hammonton.

How many people start with no wealth, go to college and get a degree and then start their own business, become a millionare and also care enough to get into public service? You speak of the impossible!

Then there are those who develop their own business, work hard, make a success of themselves, give back tremendously to the community and are treated like crap by that same community.

This is really sad. Our town is made up of millionaires, blue collar middle class, white collar middle class, low income and yes, illegals but… we all use to get along. A lot has caused that to change the last several years. Can’t we All just get along.

To the above, you said it right when you stated alot has changed in the last several years. Possibly since the HF has taken over the town? They have taught us all how to be selfish, how to look down on the “little people”, how to do whatever you want to benefit yourself and ignore the rest of the town. Yup.
