The annual showdown between Hammonton and rival St. Joseph has been moved from Thanksgiving Day to Saturday. Kickoff is noon.
Hammonton (9-1) is coming off a 3-0 overtime victory over Seneca in a South Jersey Group 3 semifinal.
St. Joseph (8-2) is coming off a 28-14 victory over Gloucester Catholic.
We don’t know why its been moved.
Update: Headline changed to better reflect the story.

hi…just in case you haven’t noticed its been this way for many years now….mainly because of playoffs and rest periods. Both teams just played this past weekend and will continue to play after the turkey bowl.

2:28, no they didn’t. They played Friday Night. I was there with my son. I attended the Eagles Thanksgiving Game the night before, so I know the game was not played on Thanksgiving.

The St. Joe coach has shown poor judgment in this matter. This is suppose to be about the kids but this guy seems to have never thought about the kids and only his ego. I hope none of those kids get hurt because of the extra practice time or have their grades suffer over it.

I don’t know of any teacher that would give homework over Thanksgiving Break. Thursday, Friday, Saturday, whatever. It’ll be a great game. I can’t go on Thanksgiving Day anyway, I’ll be out of town. GO ST. JOE!

A question to anyone. If the Devils are winning at some point, and Pete starts subbing because he doesn’t want to lose any starter to injury before the Group 3 championship, and St. Joe goes on to win still using their starters, is it a “real” win? This just might happen and then the fun will start!

One more thing. Did anyone catch the nice little celebratory parade through town Sunday when the Hawks won their championship? Really a nice gesture.

Independant- A win’s a win. Games are won by ALL players and by coaches. Champions play each game one at a time. You can’t be looking beyond because if you do then you’ll lose focus at the victory at hand. It’ll be a great game. Both teams should bring their “A” game and give it their All.

You people are fools!! First, to the admin, it is a matter of fact that St. Joe decided to play the game today and not Thursday or Friday as they could have. It is also a fact that Pete asked Spike to play the game on Thursday and he declined because he wanted the extra time to game plan for Hammonton. Even though St. Joe’s season is effectively over and Hammonton wanted as much time as possible to get ready for a REAL title game that they are playing in next week. Another fact, because of St. Joe’s unsportsmanlike approach to this situation, Hammonton will not be putting in second string units until they have a very comfortable lead. Last fact, there will be no ties idiots!! Hammonton will dominate St. Joe on there pathetic field.

To the guy who said ” a wins a win”. You are obviously a St. Joe guy because you play the sisters of the blind and then brag about beating them and try and tell people that you are back!! Back from were???? Back from recruiting talent all over South Jersey and only managing tight wins over terrible teams from small schools??? Lets see what you can do against a real team today!! Hammonton beats St. Joe by 20!!!!!

Yes, I am a St. Joe guy. A win’s still a win. May the best team win. Stop the crying about when the game should have been played. Game’s on today. If Hammonton wins you’ll probably complain about how they should have won by more. If St. Joe wins you’ll just say that they were lucky and that they only won because they needed more time vice playing on Thursday. A WINS A WIN no matter what day.

Now will all the crying stop about when the game should have been played. See Hammonton still won despite some people crying about how it would hurt them.
